In the article, based on the analysis of legislation, the problems of legal regulation of the gas industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan are considered. The authors analyzed the modern regulatory legal framework for regulating the gas industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which aims to create conditions for the gradual development of the gas transportation system and increase domestic demand for gas - an environmentally friendly type of fuel - mainly due to its own natural gas resources. The study concludes that the regulation of the gas industry in foreign countries varies significantly depending on the level of its development in each particular state; the mechanism of the state vertically integrated company (national operator) seems to be the most effective at the initial stages of the development of the gas industry. The development of the fuel and energy complex has a multiplier effect. Investments in the fuel and energy sector make it possible to actively develop the country's infrastructure, carry out the transfer of advanced technologies, contribute to the innovative development of the economy, guarantee the employment of a significant part of the working population, thereby contributing to the development of the social sphere.
