The article examines the formation and legal regulation of voluntary insurance in the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan and foreign countries. The author emphasizes that this type of insurance is a basic tool for protecting the property interests of insured farmers, common in world practice.

The article presents the history of the development of insurance in this area using the example of European countries, the United States of America and Canada. The author traces the similarities in legal regulation and features of agricultural insurance in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Having conducted a brief retrospective analysis of insurance by Kazakhstani agricultural producers in crop production, the author showed the shortcomings of the existing insurance system in this area. In addition, the advantages of the new insurance scheme in the agro-industrial complex, introduced by the Kazakh legislator in 2020, were emphasized.

The author, considering it necessary to cover information about unscrupulous participants in insurance legal relations, believes it is necessary to post information on the platform where policyholders choose their insurers under a new insurance scheme in the agro-industrial sector.
