The process of introduction of digital technologies into the sphere of criminal proceedings is becoming a steady trend. This fact raises difficult questions for theory and practice: whether it is possible to use information and communication technologies for the purposes of criminal procedural evidence; whether the truth is achievable in the conditions of digitalization of legal proceedings; what is the level of risk of distortion of the truth in case of probable failures in the ICT system. The foregoing actualizes the problems of the legal nature of video materials used as evidence in criminal cases. The classical theory of evidence has not yet provided exhaustive answers to the questions posed.
