Human trafficking is one of the most difficult types of crimes to prove. Often, victims of such crimes do not seek help from law enforcement agencies. Cultural and social characteristics, as well as values, make it taboo to discuss the problems of human trafficking, exploitation and prostitution. This makes it difficult to assess the true extent of the problem. To date, few statistics on human trafficking are available, and the actual number of victims remains in question.
