Abstract

This article examines digital footprints as a key element of forensic computer analysis in cybercrime investigations. It explores theoretical approaches to defining the concept of digital footprints, their characteristics, features, and classification. It highlights the specifics of detecting, recording, preserving, and examining digital information that has evidentiary value in criminal proceedings. It also analyzes the complexities associated with processing digital evidence in the context of cloud services, cryptographic information protection methods, and network activity concealment technologies.

It is noted that the effectiveness of cybercrime investigations depends largely on the correct application of forensic computer forensics methods and ensuring the integrity of digital data. It is concluded that it is necessary to improve the theoretical and methodological foundations of digital forensics and develop unified, scientifically sound approaches to the study of digital footprints in forensic practice.
