Abstract

This article examines the psychological characteristics of reckless criminals. Research has shown that those who commit reckless crimes differ fundamentally in their psychological characteristics from those who commit intentional crimes. When careless criminals are especially characterized by intrapunitive reactions to situations of frustration, i.e. placing the blame for failures and losses on themselves, in contrast to deliberate criminals, who are characterized by extrapunitive reactions in frustrating situations, i.e. a tendency to blame others for everything.

The article also describes how reckless criminals are also characterized by high levels of anxiety. Individuals with this trait exhibit a lack of self-confidence, a tendency to worry under stress, and excessive self-control. In extreme situations, they easily become confused and tend to react emotionally to threats rather than rationally and calmly. This leads to disorganized behavior in emergency situations and an increased number of errors.
